5. Visibility: Enhance the visibility of the agency's support for the LGBTQ+ community through targeted outreach efforts, public statements, and participation in Pride events and other relevant forums.
Implementation Plan
1. Establishment of Liaison Roles: The Broward County Chiefs of Police Association (BCCPA) and Fire Chiefs Association of Broward County (FCABC) will appoint dedicated LGBTQ+ liaison officers within each agency to serve as points of contact for support and advocacy.
2. Resource Development: Collaborate with local LGBTQ+ organizations and experts to develop a comprehensive directory of LGBTQ+ friendly resources.
- Annually review resource page on website for accuracy and relevancy of resources
- Continually promote resource page link to HR Directors, Police Chiefs, Fire Chiefs, and City Officials
3. Training Programs: Implement regular LGBTQ+ cultural competency training sessions for all agency personnel, integrating them into the standard training curriculum.
4. Community Partnerships: Forge partnerships with local LGBTQ+ community centers, advocacy groups, and social service agencies to better understand community needs and coordinate support efforts.
5. Public Visibility Campaign: Launch a public awareness campaign highlighting the agency's commitment to supporting LGBTQ+ individuals, utilizing social media, press releases, and community events.
By diligently pursuing these objectives and implementation goals, we aim to create a more inclusive and supportive environment for LGBTQ+ individuals within our first responder agency and the communities we serve.
