David Greenstein, he/him/his
Battalion Chief David Greenstein began his career in the fire service in 2001, working for neighboring departments before landing at Tamarac Fire Rescue in November 2004. With more than two decades of dedicated service, he has climbed the ranks, demonstrating leadership and commitment to public safety. David’s educational background includes degrees from the Naval Postgraduate School and the University of Florida. Chief Greenstein holds numerous credentials including certifications as a Firefighter/Paramedic, Fire Instructor III, Live Fire Training Instructor, Fire Officer III, and Incident Safety Officer. Chief Greenstein has been the recipient of Tamarac Fire Rescue’s Firefighter of the Year Award, and the Broward Health District and North Broward Health District’s Paramedic of the Year Award. Beyond his Battalion Chief role, David serves as the department’s LGBTQ+ Liaison and a devoted Ally to the community, striving to promote inclusivity within the fire service
Away from the fire service, Chief Greenstein is the Campus Director at the Emergency Education Institute, where he helps prepare current and future public safety professionals. David is a devoted family man, with a loving wife and three children. When he’s not at the station, or the school, Chief Greenstein spends his time enjoying the simple things in life like a good meal with his family, or a quiet walk with his beloved dog.
